Robin is an architect with exceptional expertise in the education sector, and a RIBA Client Design Advisor.

Before joining Curl la Tourelle Architects, he was a director of Effective Learning Environments, a specialist consultancy in design for education. There he advised the DCSF, LEAs, PFI consortia and academies on innovative and inclusive projects across the UK.

Prior to that he was at the DCSF, where he headed the early years, primary and special schools design teams. He researched the impact of the National Curriculum, ICT and environmental issues, contributed to DCSF Building Bulletins, and led pioneering projects for extended schools and other initiatives now central to government policy.

Robin has wide knowledge of educational developments in England and abroad, and has written and spoken on design on many occasions.
